Greetings fellow website viewer! My name is Thor IV, fourth generation of the Thor family, constructed with the latest forms of technology (okay, if not latest, at least I'm made with the newest parts). I was made in the year 2005 when the game Triple Play was announced. Triple Play started off with a 15-second autonomous period. During this period, robots tried to knock down tetras which hung on corner goals. The prestigious points were gained by capturing any of the four Vision Tetras during autonomous, and gathering extra points. However, they were treated as normal tetras during regular play. During the teleoperated period of two minutes, teams tried to place the appropriate color tetra on any of the goals, which were placed in a tic-tac-toe setting. There were zones on the field where tetras were in numerous supply. Scores were totaled after scoring tetras placed inside goals (1 pt), stacked tetras (3 pts), and three in a row tetras of the same color (10 pts). If all the robots on an alliance were in the alliance's end zone, then an additional ten points were awarded. That year, Ben Bergstrom, Kaila Carty, Kaitlyn Chipman, Chris Cinkornpumin, Melissa Duldulao, Darla Edwards, Randy Edwards, Alex Ellenberger, Travis |
Johnson, Salik Syed, Nico Gigante, Wayne Johansen, Jamel Stewert, Chris Suen, Melody Tran, Jon Werner and Danielle Treat helped model and build my features which included a single jointed arm with a clasp and bayonet. This allowed me to place tetras efficiently and accurately. My arm was mounted on a telescoping mast that people commented as "pretty cool". I competed at the Davis-Sacramento Regional and was a quarter finalist. I also attended Nationals but I did not qualify after eliminations. Our team learned alot that year and strategies and a solid drive team did us well for the most part. Profile Information provided by: Eric Smith As written: Priya Rangan, January 2008 |
