About Our Website
Our website has gone through many changes over the years, but now our team has grown accustomed to green tables and bubbly graphics. We hope this page will help better your navigation through our beloved website!

1: This is our navigation interface. Our main links are Home, Team, Sponsors, FIRST, LEGOs, Tools of the Trade, and RPM. They have their own navigation menus to the left of their respective homepages.

2: The left side of the homepage presents our upcoming events and link to our Google Calendar.

3: This showcases our Featured Video, website award, link to FIRST, and our affiliates.

* We also have links not seen in the picture but if you scroll down, you will find some general website links.

Behind the Keyboard:

This website was made using Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, (basically the whole Macromedia package :P) and Paint Shop Pro 8. As described above, the frames help to navigate easily and load faster. The marquee, videos, and other animated graphics were made using Flash and Actionscript. Fireworks and Paint Shop Pro 8 were used to make the buttons, banners, and graphic on our index page.

Our main color scheme is a light, pastel green (html color: #CCFFCC), and dark greens (html color: #003300 & #006600), since our school colors are green and gold. We also feature a few dashes of grey and gold used for special texts. Red is used for highlighting.

The main fonts used on this website are Tahoma, Signboard, Georgia (just in case you're wondering)

Two years ago, we started from scratch when we rebuilt the site. It was our first year working with Dreamweaver to so much extent and it took us a long time to picture the look we wanted to represent our team with this year. We decided that a collage-grunge look would do as far as the splash page. Tables also seemed simple and easy to navigate with. Alot of time was spent into writing articles, making graphics for our website viewers, and media. We just hope that all our work has helped you (the website viewer) understand FIRST and our team .

This year, we stayed with tables because of their easy coding and nice layout. We changed the splash page to honor our ten years as a team with a snapshot theme. Because of our work last year, it was easier and more manageable to update pages of the website.

FIRSTers FIRST!

That's right! When we say "FIRSTers FIRST", that means this website serves for other teams as well as our own! That's why we think about what another FIRSTer would want to look for in our website before jumping in and making alot of useless links. No one wants to be swimming around in Flash graphics but at the sametime, no one wants to be straining their eyes to read long, black lines of Times New Roman with no pretty pictures or purpose. That's why we have a balance of both! Some nice colors, bubbly 2-D graphics, and some Flash here and there. We also strive to help other teams find other websites to fit their needs with links to our affiliates, power point presentations, and tutorials for 3D Studio Max, Autodesk, and graphics programs. That is what a robotics website is supposed to do, right?

We believe that a website should not be solely held up by flashy graphics (even though it may look cool). As long as the information is necessary and organized, then the viewer should have a pleasurable time looking around. The importance of this website is to help other FIRSTers understand what Robotics is all about.
