After a short intermission, we started the program again in September 2007, this time gearing towards the Power Puzzle task. We still used the tutorials as guides but the students were on their own and rarely needed guidance when it came to the robots. After about nine weeks, we entered in our first competition at Sam Brannan Middle School. We split our full class into two teams: the Robotic Foxes and Foxes because we were required to have smaller groups (however, our team as a whole is called the Robotic Foxes). We ranked second-to-last, but as a team, we learned alot.
At the Vacaville Boys & Girls Club, High School Volunteer Jessica A. gave her time and helped out their team. They went to competiton a week after the Robotic Foxes did.
We continued the Foxboro Team for the 2008-2009 school year and our high school mentors Priya Rangan, Sarah Stafford, and Lauren Brown helped new students with the mission Climate Connections. They competed locally at the Vacaville Tournament as two teams, the Dancing Tacos and the Little Einsteins.
In 2009, our high school team started another FLL team at Golden West. Technically, we started two. Fortunately, the Foxboro team was given the money and space to continue for another year, even with a small team of seven students. All three teams competed on November 14th at the Vacaville Tournament. Students of both schools enjoyed a friendly rivalry with eachother and left the tournament with great memories.
